Twenty-Eight Sunday in Ordinary Time – 11th October 2026
Dear brothers and sisters,
Today’s Gospel begins with something beautiful: God prepares a feast and invites us. He does not invite us to fear or sadness. He invites us to a feast – to joy, to communion, to a life lived with Him.
And yet, something surprising happens in Jesus’ parable: the invited guests do not come. One goes to his farm, another to his business, and others simply refuse. Perhaps this is where today’s Gospel begins to speak directly to us.
Because God continues to invite us today. He invites us to pray, to come to Mass, to forgive, to go to Confession, to do good, to come closer to Him.
The problem is not always that we do not hear His invitation. Very often, our answer is simply: “Not now.” I will pray… but later. I will go to Confession… another time. I will forgive… but not yet. I will spend more time with my family… when life becomes less busy. I will change… one day. And without noticing it, life can pass while we keep saying to God: “Later.”
Pope Leo XIV has reminded Christians of something very simple: conversion cannot always be postponed until tomorrow. God calls us today.
So perhaps the first message of this Sunday is: do not postpone the good that you already know you should do. If you need to say, “I am sorry,” say it today. If you need to forgive someone, begin today. If you have grown distant from God, come back today. If someone you love needs to hear, “I love you,” do not wait for a special occasion.
